Position: Tourism Specialist / Team Leader (Consultant)

  • Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia (with travel to Preah Vihear and Takeo)

  • Duration: 12 months

Role Overview

Glean Asia is seeking a Tourism Specialist / Team Leader to lead the development and implementation of a Community-Based Tourism (CBT) support package. This consultant will oversee branding, marketing, and tourism development activities in two project locations: Preah Vihear and Takeo. The role involves close coordination with local communities, tourism businesses, NGOs, and government agencies to enhance Cambodia’s domestic and international tourism promotion efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the CBT support package, ensuring alignment with ASEAN Tourism Standards.

  • Lead the design and execution of tourism branding and marketing strategies for project locations.

  • Oversee capacity-building workshops for CBTs, local communities, and tourism businesses.

  • Work with local stakeholders to develop sustainable tourism strategies that promote economic recovery.

  • Coordinate with international organizations (ADB, UNESCO, World Bank, etc.) to align tourism development efforts.

  • Ensure that tourism branding materials and promotional activities highlight Cambodia’s cultural heritage.

  • Support the implementation of digital marketing campaigns aimed at increasing domestic and international visitor engagement.

  • Provide regular reports and insights on project progress and impact.

  • Strengthen community-based tourism initiatives through strategic marketing and promotion.

  • Develop sustainable tourism models that benefit local communities and businesses.

  • Enhance Cambodia’s reputation as a regional travel destination through digital and offline campaigns.

  • Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive tourism development approaches.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, or the travel industry in Cambodia.

  • Proven track record in community-based tourism development and destination branding.

  • Experience working with government agencies, tourism associations, and development partners.

  • Strong understanding of ASEAN Tourism Standards and international tourism promotion strategies.

  • Experience in managing cross-sector partnerships and community engagement.
