Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia (with travel to Preah Vihear and Takeo)
Duration: 12 months
Role Overview
Glean Asia is seeking an experienced Marketing Analyst to support the Community-Based Tourism (CBT) Support Package by conducting in-depth market research, data analysis, and performance evaluations to drive the effectiveness of tourism branding and marketing strategies. This role will play a key part in identifying market trends, segmenting target audiences, and measuring the impact of promotional campaigns.
The Marketing Analyst will work closely with the Branding Strategist, Online Marketing Specialist, and Tourism Specialist to provide data-driven insights that inform branding, messaging, and digital marketing efforts. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, experience in tourism or hospitality marketing, and a passion for leveraging data to enhance tourism promotion strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Consumer Insights
Conduct destination market research, including audience segmentation, tourism behavior analysis, and digital engagement trends.
Perform SWOT analysis, competitive analysis, and industry benchmarking to identify opportunities for community-based tourism growth.
Analyze tourist spending patterns, online search behavior, and travel booking trends to optimize marketing strategies.
Work with local tourism businesses, community-based tourism groups (CBTs), and stakeholders to understand visitor experiences and expectations.
Campaign Analysis & Performance Tracking
Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of branding, digital marketing, and promotional campaigns.
Track and analyze website traffic, social media engagement, and online advertising performance to assess the effectiveness of digital marketing efforts.
Conduct A/B testing, survey analysis, and consumer feedback assessments to refine marketing campaigns.
Provide real-time monitoring and reporting on campaign performance, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Strategy Development & Recommendations
Develop data-driven recommendations to enhance tourism branding, content marketing, and digital advertising strategies.
Support the Branding Strategist in crafting targeted messaging based on market research findings.
Work closely with the Online Marketing Specialist to optimize paid and organic marketing strategies, ensuring high engagement rates and conversions.
Assist in designing regional and international marketing strategies aimed at attracting domestic and foreign travelers.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and visual data insights for project stakeholders, donors, and government agencies.
Present key findings to the project team and relevant tourism organizations to inform strategic decision-making.
Support training and capacity-building initiatives for local tourism operators and stakeholders in data-driven marketing practices.
Key Objectives
Enhance the effectiveness of marketing and branding strategies through data-driven insights.
Improve audience targeting, engagement, and tourism promotion outcomes.
Provide actionable recommendations based on consumer behavior and tourism trends.Strengthen performance measurement and reporting mechanisms for marketing campaigns.
Support the long-term sustainability and growth of community-based tourism initiatives in Cambodia.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Analytics, Tourism Management, Data Science, or a related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in market research, data analysis, or marketing strategy development.
Experience working in travel, tourism, or hospitality marketing is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of digital marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, SEO/SEM tools, CRM platforms, etc.).
Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, including survey design, focus groups, and statistical analysis.
Familiarity with Cambodia’s tourism sector, community-based tourism initiatives, and digital consumer behavior trends is an advantage.
Key Competencies
Strong analytical and data visualization skills (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools).
Ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable marketing strategies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to identify emerging tourism market trends.
Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
